“We have just visited (the summer time) & Hakuba is a very special place! There is so much to see and do, we really wished we had spent more time there. Our stay with Darren at his Big Bear Chalet was every thing that he said it would be and more. Its was very relaxing and peaceful stay,at the base of the Japanese Alps. Added to the fact that it is in a beautifully designed log home, defined as a beautiful modern home with a luxurious shower and Onsen, very nice. Darren (our Host) has prepared a list of recommended places to visit & fine establishments to eat also was very accommodating by offering transportation, by picking you up at the bus depot, trips to town for groceries (easy walking distance if in the mood). The best part was Darren & his wife know the area! They recommended many enjoyable hikes and places to go and see which might have been missed by a first timer. The summer festival/fireworks in Happo was amazing!, something that we will always look back fondly. We will definitely be coming back!”

A great chalet in a wonderful location where nothing was too much trouble for our hosts (also the owners). There is nothing lacking; we felt that we could have just as easily stayed for a month rather than a few days, without missing anything. Recommended! We definitely plan to return this winter and look forward to trying the new apartments.

“We spent the 3rd week of August in Hakuba and everything was perfect. The wooden chalet is really nice, very clean, comfortable, new and with lots of details (wi-fi, ipod connection, flat screen TV and hi-fi system, all cleaning products, comfortable beds…). The location is beautiful and very convenient. This is the first time we visited Hakuba in summer and we really recommend it, there are so many activities to do: kayaking, trekking, cycling… The weather was sunny and warm during the day but cooler at night. Darren, the owner, was very helpful, thank you for all your restaurants’ and activities’ recommendation. We will came back, hopefully very soon, it is only 3 1/2 hours from Tokyo.”

We couldn’t be happier with the Big Bear Apartments. The hosts were fantastic, even offering a shuttle service to shops and restaurants. Everything in the apartment was high quality.

What more could you ask for! Really, there are only so many ways you can say excellent, fantastic, awesome, brilliant, and all the reviews written before have expressed precisely how good Big Bear Chalets & Apartments are. The owner’s genuine hospitality and local knowledge are just the finishing touch to a superb accommodation complex. Ditto to what everyone else has said and THANK YOU for a wonderful ski holiday.

The apartment was warm and very comfortable with very good facilities, including Netflix, which meant we could watch some English language TV. It had a huge bath to soak in after a hard day skiing. The owner provided a shuttle run to the supermarket in the afternoon and picked us up and dropped us off at the bus station.

Excellent place and great location. Stayed in the 2 roomchalet in February and was hands down the best snow accommodation I’ve had. We only had 4 people but there would be more than enough room for 6 or 7 people. Darren and his team had excellent local knowledge and were happy to help with anything we needed from restaurant and bar recommendations to in-depth knowledge of the mountains for advice on the best slopes to board day-to-day. Also has a bus service daily to help get to town to buy groceries and anything else you want. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends.

We are a family of 5 who had an absolutely amazing stay at Big Bear Chalets. Highly recommended! Personal pick-up and drop off at the bus terminal. Our host Darren was able to recommend and arrange ski hire and ski passes as well as helping with a daily shopping run. You can walk from the chalets to one of the ski lifts. Bonus for us was the Onsen-type bath in the chalet.

房东Darren非常亲切，从我们开始订房时就及时发了很多邮件给我们，由于我们人比较多（6个人），Darren 还亲自开车到长野站来接我们，入住的白狐屋（WHITE FOX)非常漂亮，它是双拼的两层度假屋，每套有三间卧室，三个洗手间，宽敞的客厅，漂亮干净的开放式厨房，落地的大窗，总之一切令人满意，我们到了后，Darren 热情地介绍了当地各个滑雪场的情况，并为我们准备好了第二天滑雪的PASS(可以自己选择天数），晚上还送我们去超市买了一大堆的食品，同时又帮我们约了借雪具的商店，让我们所有的事情在当天全部解决，白狐屋门口就有来往于各个滑雪场的免费班车，及其方便，所以在家可以直接穿好滑雪装备上车。白马村不愧为举办过冬奥会的地方，服务和设施非常好，值得再去。

2家族で2泊しました。天井の高い広々したリビングに子ども達も大喜び！ベッドルームもお風呂もきれいでとても心地よく過ごせました。建物前でBBQも出来たり、近所の夏祭りに出かけたりとみんなとても楽しんでいました。もっと泊まっていたいくらい！オーナーさんも素敵な方で、いろいろとお勧めを教えて頂いて嬉しかったです。おかげで美味しいケーキで誕生日祝いも出来たり、白馬の森でアウトドアも楽しめました。また是非泊まりたいところになりました！

Excellent facilities A++. Will be back! Floor heating was a very nice touch. Big TV and apple TV satisfied the kids. Nice open kitchen and dining area. The big dry room was super handy with all our gear. Great place to stay. Thank you!

Relaxing holiday in Hakuba. Big windows in the living room – bright and open. Bedrooms had block-out blinds which were great for sleeping in. The host organized our day tours and ski lessons. Very helpful. Had a great time with my family.

Great apartment in Hakuba, near the lifts. Darren the owner was excellent, organised everything we need – supermarket, lift tickets, ski lessons, trip to the medical facility (slippery road), luggage sent to Narita Airport for collect in 2 weeks’ time for our return flights.

A great place to stay. The apartment was wonderful! It had everything we needed – it was clean, kitchen and appliances were great and made it very easy to cook for ourselves. The supermarket shuttle was useful too! Bathroom was clean and the hot water and water pressure were spot on (important when it’s freezing cold outside. The host was also great. The apartments are just a short walk down to Sakka Slope and to the free shuttle bus to the other ski fields. Couldn’t be happier that we chose to stay here and definitely recommend it to anyone who is wanting a bit more than just somewhere to sleep!

Great log chalet for a group or family. We stayed in one of the log chalets for a ski trip. The space was great. We had 7 people in the three bedroom chalet and had loads of room for all our ski gear and luggage. There is a variety of food within short walking distance and Darren is more than happy to book and transport you to any restaurants a little further away. Bus stop out the front gives you access to any ski resorts and the cabin is only a 5minute walk to some of Happo-one’s lifts. The owner’s willingness to help and his local knowledge made for a great stay. Would recommend to anyone and can’t wait to go back.
